A useful fit for

A candidate for a household that wants a 10-inch remote-sharing touchscreen, a maker-described anti-glare surface, 1920 × 1200 resolution and a choice of interchangeable-looking bezel styles.

The main tradeoff

New arrivals need Wi-Fi/internet; portrait rotation and local USB/SD importing are not documented, and the manufacturer’s current video/caption subscription statements conflict.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can family share ordinary photos without a required subscription?

Skylight says the free app or email can be used for family photo contributions without an account or subscription. Wi-Fi/internet is needed for new photos; previously loaded photos can display offline.

Is the anti-glare surface a measured performance result?

No independent glare test was performed. Skylight describes Frame 2 as anti-glare; treat that as a manufacturer claim and consider the room’s window/light position before choosing a display.

Are videos and captions included without Plus?

The current product page says those features are free, while the Frame 2 FAQ says active Plus is required. The manufacturer pages conflict, so verify the current feature and renewal terms; the basic-photo no-subscription claim does not settle video/caption access.

Skylight Frame 2 is a 10-inch Wi-Fi touchscreen whose main documented upgrades over the original 10-inch Frame are a 1920 × 1200 IPS panel, 16 GB of storage, a manufacturer-described anti-glare surface and interchangeable Snap Frame styles. It keeps the simple family-sharing model: relatives can contribute photos by app or email, while the frame needs internet for new uploads and power from an outlet. The tricky ownership question is not ordinary photo sharing; it is the manufacturer’s conflicting description of whether Frame 2 videos and captions require Plus.

Ten finish configurations, one reviewed display family

The current U.S. product pages expose ten Frame 2 style/color configurations: Classic Black (102DA), Classic White (102DB), Classic Sage (102DH), Classic Lagoon (102DG), Cover Black (102DM), Cover White (102DN), Wood Birch (102DJ), Wood Walnut (102DI), Shadow Box Charcoal (102DK) and Shadow Box Aluminum (102DL). The manufacturer’s comparison says “four styles and eight colors,” while ten combinations appear on individual U.S. pages; all ten are retained. The style and finish are visible exterior choices; the shared display assessment does not imply that every option uses the same bezel material. Skylight describes Wood as natural hardwood and Shadow Box as modern aluminum, but that is manufacturer material copy, not an independent material test.

Each direct page’s name, SKU and image identify the requested configuration, although the embedded structured-data canonical URL on those pages points back to the Wood/Walnut handle. We therefore use the captured requested page, its specific name/SKU and image together as the identity evidence, and preserve the canonical mismatch as a source-quality note. The images below are official promotional product renders for finish recognition, not photographed delivered units or proof of every package item.

Screen, glare and orientation

Skylight lists a 10-inch diagonal IPS touchscreen at 1920 × 1200 pixels, 16 GB and up to 16,000 photos. That capacity is a manufacturer estimate and will vary with file sizes. The U.S. product page calls the screen anti-glare; that is a maker claim, not a measurement under a lamp or in a sunny room. The product copy describes touchscreen pinch, crop and zoom. We found no clear U.S. statement that Frame 2 automatically rotates for portrait and landscape placement, so orientation-specific fit is left undocumented. Do not use a lifestyle photograph showing a frame at an angle as evidence of portrait auto-rotation.

Skylight lists the outside size as 12 × 8.5 × 0.9 inches without assigning those values to width, height and depth. Measure the planned surface against the exact product and allow room for the fixed power lead; no independent dimensions or weight were obtained. The included matching Snap Frame is described by the manufacturer’s Frame 2 FAQ, and separate Snap Frames are sold as Frame 2-only accessories. Confirm the finish and which bezel is in the exact box rather than assuming an extra replacement bezel is included.

Photo sharing, Wi-Fi and the Plus contradiction

Skylight says the mobile app or email can be used for family photo contributions without creating an account or subscribing. Wi-Fi/internet is required for initial setup and new photos; after photos are loaded, the manufacturer says existing images remain viewable offline, with queued new images downloading after connectivity returns. This is useful for brief outages but does not meet a requirement for new photos to arrive without internet. The frame needs mains power; it is not a cordless display.

Do not assume that the product’s video and caption features are settled by the base listing. Current U.S. product copy says photos and videos can be sent and viewed, with captions, for free; the same manufacturer’s Frame 2 FAQ says video playback and captions require an active Skylight Plus subscription. “With Plus” product pages reuse the exact hardware SKU for their matching base style/color, so this appears to be an optional service package rather than a distinct frame. Because those manufacturer statements conflict, check the live feature and renewal terms before treating video/caption access as included or paid. The no-subscription match in this assessment applies to basic photo sharing, not to the unresolved video/caption promise.

Accessory and power checks

Frame 2’s magnetic Snap Frames are exclusive to Frame 2; Skylight says they do not fit the original Frame. That makes the included matching bezel and any separately ordered replacement a generation-specific compatibility issue. The replacement-parts page also lists a Power Adapter and Support Stand and lets customers choose among 10-inch Frame, 10-inch Frame 2 and 15-inch Frame categories. The page does not establish a universal adapter rating or exact replacement SKU for every selection, so match the part by exact model with Skylight rather than buying an unverified generic lead.

The frame’s remote sharing and stored-photo playback claims do not establish local USB/SD import; no such function was documented in the reviewed Frame 2 material. No independent brightness, contrast, color, image quality, Wi-Fi speed or reliability test was performed. The manufacturer’s listed display and storage figures should be treated as specifications, not test findings.

Who should shortlist it?

Frame 2 is a reasonable candidate if a 10-inch remote-sharing frame with a stated anti-glare surface, 1920 × 1200 panel, larger storage claim and choice of snap-on appearance fits your space. It is not the right match if you require internet-independent new-photo delivery, a battery, documented portrait rotation or locally verified removable-media import. Before ordering, confirm the exact Frame 2 style/color SKU, whether the matching bezel and U.S. power adapter are in the package, the current Plus terms for video/captions, and any subscription renewal or seller return conditions. This is desk research from manufacturer sources, not a hands-on product test or ownership report.
